The sword glistened pale blue, as if sheathed in ice. Something about it just makes you want to relax.
This is a frost longsword +1 which does its job just fine. However those who take hold of its blade become filled with an overwhelming calm and peace with the world. The wielder is affected by calm emotions, which is great for feeling good or for relieving fear, but not so much for fighting which swords are known to be good for. So calm are they that they cannot take violent actions (but can still help their allies and themselves non-violently) unless attacked, after which they may act freely for 1 round.
Unfortunately the calming effect also means the user never wants to relinquish the weapon, or wield another weapon again. The calm continues to afflict them even when the sword is sheathed until the blade is physically removed from them by force, or remove curse or break enchantment is applied.
When you are permitted to attack, the chillblade deals its normal extra +1d6 cold damage, and all damage it deals is non-lethal (unless they are immune, in which case it remains lethal). On the other hand those currently afflicted by the chillblade gain a +2 circumstance bonus on Diplomacy checks for their calming nature.
Prerequisites: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, calm emotions, chill metal.
