Deacon[edit]

A deacon is essentially a non-spellcasting cleric, hailing from the believers who are unable or unwilling to cast spells but still wish to serve their deity or philosophy. A deacon usually serve a subordinate as a cleric or priest, aiding the minister or the faithful in their worship. However in some churches where spellcasting is seen in a negative light deacons can take the role of the main ministers. That said the deacon class do offer minor spellcasting in the form of spell-like abilities.

Making a Deacon[edit]

A deacon work best in a group where they can use Aid Another, their spell-like abilities make them very versatile at low level and give them a lot of staying power at later levels. Since a deacon do not need high mental ability score to make use of his spell-like abilities and most of their class feature are based on character level instead of class level the deacon make for a good multiclasssing choice.

Abilities: A deacon is not dependent on any ability scores. A high mental ability score may be useful for their spell-like abilities.

Humble Servant (Ex): A deacon is a servant of the temple and his or her main duty is to aid the faithful, whenever he use the Aid Another he grant an additional +1 bonus to the check, the bonus increase by a further point at 3rd and 6th level. When using Aid Another on a member of the same faith the bonus last for 3 rounds instead of one action, although it only assist the same type of action (so if used to aid an attack roll it only apply to attack roll).

At 5th level a deacon may also use minor rites to replicate the effect of bless, bless weapon, bless water and divine favor. An evil deacon uses the evil versions of the spells.
