Depraved Reanimator
A depraved reanimator is an alchemist who dabbles in a unique sort of necromancy. They are proficient at reanimating zombies, using similar methods to giving life to certain constructs. While more than capable of using typical means of animation, their unique zombies are tough and lack many of the weaknesses of a typical zombie. However, their vile craft often leave them to be hated and even hunted in most civilized society. The vast majority of depraved reanimators are also vivisectionist.
Class: Alchemist
Level: 1st-20th
Replaces: Brew Potion, Throw Anything, Mutagen, Poison Use, Swift Poisoning
Benefit: A depraved reanimator gains the following class features:
Promethean Experiment: At 1st level, a depraved reanimator gains the promethean disciple discovery, even if she does not meet the prerequisites. This grants her the Craft ConstructVariant feat.
This ability replaces Brew Potion and Throw Anything.
Reanimating Mutagen (Su): A depraved reanimator has a special mutagen, not designed to function on the living. Instead as a standard action, she may inject the mutagen in a corpse, which has not been dead for more than 1 minute. Upon doing so, it is automatically reanimated with the zombified condition under the alchemist’s control. It is raised with 5 hit points per hit dice.
Alternatively she may apply the mutagen to a reanimated servitor (see below) she controls, granting it a +4 alchemical bonus on Strength and a +2 bonus on natural armor for the duration of the mutagen. However the undead no longer act as if controlled for the duration of the mutagen, although it does not attack the depraved reanimator or her allies.
This ability replaces mutagen. The depraved reanimator cannot choose mutagen, cognatogen or other variant of mutagen as discoveries.
Alchemical Reanimation: When creating a zombie, a 2nd level depraved reanimator may choose to use the creature’s class level for the purpose of determining how many hit dice her undead has. For example, a 5th-level fighter would be made into a 5 hit dice zombie, instead of a 1 hit dice zombie. The class levels are discarded as normal otherwise, being replaced by undead hit dice. Additionally, the depraved reanimator may cast lesser animate dead as a spell-like ability once per day. Unlike a normal spell-like ability, the depraved reanimator must expend material components as normal.
Starting at 4th level, she adds the following spells to her list of extract at the listed level: lesser animate dead (2nd), animate dead (3rd), create undead (5th), create greater undead (6th).
This ability replaces poison use and swift poisoning.
Reanimated Servitor (Su): The depraved reanimator has mastered the creation of special zombies, by modifying corpses with construct grafts and blasphemous implements. When she raises a zombie instead of using onyx, she must expend 25 GP of various material per hit dice of the raised creature. Doing so makes her zombie into a reanimated servitor, which is automatically a fast zombie without any increase of control hit dice. A reanimated servitor counts as a construct rather than an undead for the purpose of effect which affect it, it gains bonus hit point as a construct and is repaired as a construct.
This ability replaces the discovery gained at 2nd level.
Reanimator Discoveries: The depraved reanimator has access to a few unique discoveries:
Modified Grafts (Ex): When creating a servitor, the depraved reanimator may choose to further modify it with construct grafts. This functions as the constructed pugilist’s limb modification, affecting the reanimated servitor’s slam attack.
Hardened Armor (Ex): Whenever the depraved reanimator creates a reanimated servitor, she is able to outfit them with additional plating. This grants her reanimated servitor DR 5/Slashing. The depraved reanimator may take this discovery twice, altering the DR to DR 5/adamantine.
Grand Reanimating Mutagen (Su): Upon selecting this discovery, the depraved reanimator learns to enhance the potency of her reanimating mutagen. She may use her mutagen to a dead creature of up to huge size. If used on a reanimated servitor, the alchemical bonus to Strength increases to +8 and the natural armor bonus increases to +6. The depraved reanimator must be 16th level to choose this discovery and requires Greater Reanimating Mutagen.
Greater Reanimating Mutagen (Su): Upon selecting this discovery, the depraved reanimator learns to enhance the potency of her reanimating mutagen. She may use her mutagen to a dead creature of up to large size. Furthermore, the reanimated zombified creature no longer takes a penalty to its speed and may take a full-attack action. If used on a reanimated servitor, the alchemical bonus to Strength increases to +6 and it gain a +4 alchemical bonus to Dexterity. The depraved reanimator must be 12th level to choose this discovery.
Superhuman Servitor (Ex): A depraved reanimator who selects this discovery may grant it the advanced simple template to any reanimated servitor she creates. She cannot apply this discovery on a non-mindless servitor she creates. The depraved reanimator must be 8th level to choose this discovery.
True Reanimating Mutagen (Su): When a depraved reanimator who has selected this discovery uses her reanimating mutagen to raise a zombified creature, it retains all abilities it has in life and is raised at full hit points. It may perform any actions it was able to in life. If used on a reanimated servitor, the alchemical bonus to Strength and Dexterity increases to +8 and the natural armor bonus increases to +6. The depraved reanimator must be 20th level to choose this discovery and requires Grand Reanimating Mutagen.
