Envelope Spell [Metamagic] Benefit: An envelope spell can contain a small object that would fit easily in one hand such as a potion vial in it when cast. This can only be cast on a non-ray spell that has some sort of projectile. The type of attack roll (if any) stay the same, so something like a rock intended to deal harm from sheer physical force is typically not useful for this, as it would typically not be able to deal damage. An envelope spell allows you to deliver the object to a potentially much higher range than usual, but cannot be used any further than Medium range. An envelope spell takes up a spell slot one slot higher than the spell's actual level. Example: Franklin, learning from her sister, picks up a few vials of acid. She casts an envelope fireball around one and shoots it out at a gnoll in a cluster of its fellows 250' away. As Franklin's caster level is only 10, this is outside of her Medium range, so the acid falls out prematurely. If she had cast it at the goblins 120' away, she would have hit with the acid. Oh rubbish!Normal: You can't throw an alchemist's fire and shoot an acid arrow at the same time.Special: You can only throw one object, even if the spell would allow you to create multiple projectiles. Choose which projectile has the thing in it when you cast the spell. You must have object in your hand when you cast this spell to throw it. Sorcerers (and other spontaneous spellcasters) casting an envelope spell don't increase the casting time of the spell.
