A brightly colored squirrel leapt from the tree, startled by your presence. It began emitting bolts of energy every which way as it flees.

Creatures found on the edge where planes touch the positive energy plane, and rarely even inside the positive energy plane itself, what seems to have once been a common flying squirrel has been transformed into a being of explosive energy potential and laser vision. They are capable of great jumps and beams which they can defend themselves with. Mostly harmless, they can become quite dangerous in number. Even without the threat of lasers flying laser squirrels are known to be mischievous little imps.

They prefer the trees, but rarely one may be found drifting in the void of the positive energy plane unaffected by both the rigors of positive energy and the blinding nature of the plane. They often come in one or two bright garish colors unnatural for a fur color of a squirrel.


Craven creatures, they typically run away from threats by flying, shooting warning shots or actual shots at creatures to dissuade pursuit.

Energetic Leap (Ex): Flying laser squirrels can jump incredibly high in a burst of energy and color. They duplicate the effects of the updraftSpC spell as an extraordinary action as a swift action at will, but only when they are on the ground. Their effective caster level of 5th can bring them as high as 50 ft.

Glide (Ex): A flying laser squirrel cannot use its fly speed to hover. When flying, a flying laser squirrel must end its movement at least 5 feet lower in elevation than where it started.

Laser (Su): As a standard action the flying laser squirrel can fire a beam of energy equivalent to an eldritch blast at any target within 60 ft.

Skills: Flying laser squirrels have a +8 racial bonus on Climb and Jump checks. A flying laser squirrel can always choose to take 10 on Climb checks, even if rushed or threatened. It uses its Dexterity modifier instead of its Strength modifier for Climb and Jump checks.


Flying laser squirrels can be bound as familiars to non-undead spellcasters with the Improved Familiar feat, where it provides a small but steady source of firepower.
