Frustrating Plant[edit]
This simple friendly houseplant of an unspecific flora needs no watering, sunlight, or care. It is unremarkable but comforting, but it bears a dreadful curse. After being placed in an area for at least 24 hours the curse takes effect, filling the entire house or up to a 100 foot radius centered on itself, whichever is less. All those who attempt any ability or skill check or attack roll within this area must roll twice and take the worst result. In addition if there are degrees of failure on a failed check, you always take the worst result. The affliction to your abilities remains unnoticed other than for a habit of failing more often than normal and in more spectacular ways. This never applies when taking care of the plant itself.
Any attempts at divining the source of your sorrows only reveals the room or general area the plant is currently in with no other clues. If the plant is attacked or damaged in any way the attacker must make a DC 25 Will save against bestow curse, and the plant teleports away to places unknown to show up at some other poor sap's place. If you attempt to simply leave the plant, it teleports back into your vicinity within an hour. Break enchantment on the plant forces the save against bestow curse but removes the curse on the plant, rendering it a normal mortal plant again.
Detect magic only reveals an aura of faint transmutation on the plant and pot, which analysis would reveal it to be promoting the plant's health.
