Global Gravity Disc[edit]

The global gravity disc is often used on vehicles in gravity-free areas, or magical fortresses and dungeons with strange and unusual construction. Depending on where it is placed it can make an area of heavy gravity, or completely remove gravity altogether. The global gravity disc is a complicated bronze orrey with a black adamantine disc in the center, both sides inscribed with magic runes. A switch on the base allows power to be turned on or off as a standard action. The default model extends a radius of altered gravity out to a 60 foot radius. Everything in this sphere treats the orientation of the disc as the plane of gravity, meaning things above the disc fall down and things below the disc fall up! Things right at the level of the disc bob up and down as they flip between the two orientations. This is useful in a zero-G environment to give some grounding, though switching between topside and bottomside can be a pain.

In environments with gravity, the disc only alters existing gravity. As a result a sideways disc feels now downward pull as well as sideways pull, and those under the disc feel normal gravity upward, rather than zero gravity. Likewise those above feel normal gravity and not twice as much gravity. Heavy gravity planes remain heavy gravity, and light gravity remains light. In zero-gravity environments (such as outer space or when not aligned to a surface in a plane with objective or subjective gravity) it defaults to 1 G of normal gravity.

Two intersecting fields of two global gravity disc negate each other, establishing the normal gravity of the plane.

Moving the disc is actually rather difficult. You need to succeed on a DC 15 Strength check to move it at all, and it can only change orientation by 30 degrees each round, meaning to go from flat to sideways takes 3 rounds. This is fortunate for those in a vehicle least they go flying suddenly.

Discs with larger and smaller radii exist. The formula for the price of a different radius the number of 10 ft radius (in this case, 6) squared x 80 + 2000. Minimum 10 ft. The orrey must be affixed to a large structure as all wondrous architecture.

Moderate transmutation; CL 13th; Craft Wondrous Item, reverse gravity; Price 4,880 gp.
