Kinetic Savant

A kinetic savant is a student of the psychic energy used by the kineticist. Unlike a kineticist, a kinetic savant carefully studies the elements and slowly learns to tap into it safely.

Class: Wizard

Level: 1st, 2nd, 4th, 8th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 20th

Replaces: Arcane School, Scribe Scroll

Benefit: A kinetic savant gain the following class features:

Spellcasting: A kinetic savant is a psychic spellcaster rather than an arcane spellcaster. The kinetic savant still prepares her spell as normal and draws her spells from the sorcerer/wizard list.

Kinetic School: At 1st level, rather than selecting an arcane school, the kinetic savant selects a specific kineticist element. The kinetic savant gains the elemental focus class features with the associated element, using her wizard level as her effective kineticist level. She gains the associated element's basic utility wild talents, but not any of its simple blast or elemental defense. A kinetic savant must choose two schools to become opposition schools, as if she were a specialist wizard. She also treats all spells of an opposite element (such as cold and water if she chooses fire) as spells from an opposition school. This ability replaces Arcane School and Scribe Scroll.

Wild Talents: At 2nd level, 4th level and each 4 levels thereafter, a kinetic savant gains an utility wild talent from the list of options available based on her elemental focus, functioning as the kineticist ability of the same name. A kinetic savant must meet the prerequisites of the infusion wild talent and can’t accept burn (but see the spellburn ability below). In order to use a utility wild talent, a kinetic savant must prepare it like a spell at the start of the day, preparing it in an empty slot whose level is equal to the utility wild talent's level. Unlike a spell, it is not expended and can thus be used at-will.

The kinetic savant uses her Intelligence instead of her Constitution to determine the effect and DCs of her wild talents. Since she lacks a kinetic blast, she cannot learn any utility wild talent which improve or alter her kineticist blast or relies on kinetic blast damage.

Spellburn: Beginning at 2nd level, a kinetic savant can channel stored spell energy into her wild talents. To use her wild talents requiring burn, the kinetic savant must lose a prepared wizard spell to successfully use any wild talent with a burn cost. If a wild talent has a burn cost of 1 or more, she must expend a spell level equal to or greater than the wild talent’s level. The kinetic savant can accept additional burn if the utility wild talent would allow her to do so, increasing the level of the spell she needs to sacrifice by the extra burn cost.

Bonus Feat: A kinetic savant may take Extra Wild TalentOA as one of her bonus feat granted at 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th level even if she does not meet the prerequisites. This ability alters Bonus Feat.
