Load Bearing Lifestone[edit]

A load bearing lifestone can be made out of any solid block, but typically out of common stone. These enhanced stones are very durable, with twice the hp, hardness, and break DC of a normal stone of their kind. They are linked to the life energy of another creature, and when said creature perishes the stone breaks into fine powder. As the name suggests, they typically are used in construction as the keystone to make projects, tied to the lives of megalomaniacs who would rather their belongings be brought down with them in hopes of crushing would-be adventurers inside. They radiate faint transmutation magic.

Because the load bearing lifestone can detect the death of its linked host even across planes, it is sometimes used as a kill switch to divine the status of distant agents on the field. The linked creature to the stone must be present and be the first to touch the newly enhanced stone, after which they are forever linked.

Faint transmutation; CL 7th; Craft Wondrous Item, life lock; Price 1,000 gp.
