Maestro

A maestro is a wizard who specialized in the art of conducting, casting spells like a mundane maestro would conduct an orchestra. Many maestro are also Bookish Wizard reading their spellbook like sheet music.

Class: Pathfinder Wizard

Level: 1st-20th

Replaces: Spellcasting, Arcane Bond, Arcane School

Benefit: A maestro receive the following class features:

Spellcasting: A maestro cast just as a wizard does, except that she is also able to add spells from the bard spell list to her spellbook and cast them. If a spell appears on both spell lists, use the one who has a lower level. Her spells always require somatic components. A maestro can select the Bookish Wizard alternate class feature with her modified spellcasting.

Arcane Bond: A maestro must choose the bonded object arcane bond and must choose a conducting baton (a wand) as their bonded object. A hand holding a maestro's conducting baton counts as a free hand for the purpose of making somatic components.

Maestro's Focus (Su): A maestro is able to perform much like a bard. This ability is identical to bardic performance, using the maestro's wizard level instead of her bard level except for the following changes. A maestro uses her Intelligence to determine how many rounds of Maestro's Focus she has and she does not gain the Bard's listed performance. She instead gain the following performances:

Minuet of Cancellation: While a maestro is conducting this performance she gains the benefit of Improved Counterspell. If she possesses the feat she gains a +2 bonus on dispel check for the purpose of counter spelling. At 9th level she may counter a spell as an immediate action by spending an extra round of maestro's focus.

Sonata of Power: While a maestro is conducting this performance she adds +1 to the DC of any spell she cast and gain a +2 bonus on caster level check to defeat spell resistance. At 5th level and 11th the bonus to beat spell resistance increases by +1.

Conductor of Marvel: A maestro of 5th level gains access to this performance. While using this performance is able to maintain concentration on spells as a move action for as long as the performance is ongoing. While doing so she is able to cast other spells. She may only ever concentrate on a single spell at any given time however.

Symphonic Destruction: A maestro of 11th level gain access to this performance. While using this performance any damaging spells she cast deals an additional +1 damage per dice. If an opponent uses evasion of similar ability to negate all damages, its still take non-lethal damage equal to a quarter of the spell's original damage.

Prelude of Flawless Magic: A maestro of 20th level gains access to this performance. While using this performance she may apply any [Metamagic] feats she knows to spells spontaneously, the modified level of the spell cannot exceed 9th level and she must spend an additional number of rounds of maestro's focus equal to twice the [Metamagic] feats combined spell level modifier.
