With the clattering of thousands of marbles, the swarm erupted form from its hiding place.
Psicrystals are rarely without masters, but in cases of mass psionic creature death (or a psion's spirit inhabiting a mass of psionic crystals), sometimes swarms of the creatures can form.
Combat[edit]
Swarms are simple in attack options, but the addition of intellect, however dim, provides it the ability to use and abuse tactics. They are much tougher than other swarms on account of their rock-like hardness.
Distraction (Ex): Any living creature that begins its turn with a psicrystal swarm in its space must succeed on a DC 11 Fortitude save or be nauseated for 1 round. The save DC is Constitution-based.
Psychic Damage (Su): When gathered in mass their limited psychic abilities manifest ever so slightly. They deal 1 extra point of damage with their swarm attack for every d6 of swarm damage. This damage is mind-affecting, but not subject to damage reduction.
Construct Traits: A psicrystal has immunity to poison, sleep, paralysis, stunning, disease, death effects, necromancy effects, mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects), and any effect that requires a Fortitude save unless it also works on objects or is harmless. It is not subject to critical hits, nonlethal damage, ability damage, ability drain, fatigued, exhaustion, or energy drain. It cannot heal damage, but it can be repaired. Psicrystals do not have the usual construct traits of darkvision and low-light vision.
Psicrystal Granted Abilities: The psicrystal described here has the special abilities of self-propulsion, alertness, improved evasion, share powers, telepathic link, sighted, and personality (If its master chooses not to activate the self-propulsion ability, the psicrystal reverts to a speed of 0 feet and has no Strength score and no Dexterity score.)
Skills: A psicrystal (with its self-propulsion ability activated) uses its Dexterity modifier instead of its Strength modifier on Climb checks. It has a +8 racial bonus on Climb checks and can always choose to take 10, even if rushed or threatened.
