Psychohost
A psychohost is an unusual type of spiritualist, who possesses powerful psychokinetic abilities in addition to her normal haunting abilities. This can be the result of possession by a poltergeist, an unusual mutation at birth, or the results of occult experiments. A psychohost does not bind a normal phantom to her will, and instead manifest an apparition made of psychokinetic energy. The lack of mind behind her phantom leaves it unable to fight itself, but a psychohost has heightened fighting abilities over a normal spiritualist.
Class: Spiritualist
Level: 1st-20th
Replaces: Phantom (altered), emotional focus, shared consciousness, bonded manifestation, calm spirit, dual bond.
Benefit: A psychohost gain access to the following class features:
Weapon Proficiency: In addition to the normal spiritualist proficiency a psychohost is proficient with a martial weapon of her choice.
Emotional Spellcasting: A psychohost’s ability to cast spells is tied to the force of her own mind rather than her connection to the spirit world. As a result, she uses her Charisma score rather than her Wisdom score to determine the highest spell level she can cast, the saving throw DCs of spells she casts, and her bonus spells per day.
This ability alters spellcasting.
Psychokinetic Phantom: A psychohost's phantom isn't a spirit entity, but rather a powerful telekinetic manifestation. The psychohost phantom is mindless, and thus does not naturally gain feat and skills, but retain bonus feat and skill ranks granted to it. While the phantom does not normally have feats, it gains feats as part of the battle mind class feature (see below). The psychohost may manifest her phantom as a standard action, and harbour it in her mind as a free action. The psychohost must spend a move action each round to direct her phantom, otherwise it may only perform a single move action during its turn. Outside of dangerous situations, the psychohost does not need to spend any actions to have her perform simple actions.
The psychohost 's phantom has good Fortitude and Reflex save, and has a number of ranks in Acrobatics, Climb, Fly and Swim equal to its number of Hit Dice. The phantom has a +2 bonus to Strength and instead of increasing it Dexterity and a Charisma as the psychohost gains level, it increases its Strength and Dexterity instead. A psychohost 's phantom is never banished, instead whenever it would be banished it is instead forced back into the psychohost's mind, and cannot be manifested again until the spiritualist next rest to regain her spells.
At 7th level, she may direct the psychohost may direct her phantom as a swift action, or as a move action.
This ability alters phantom and replaces emotional focus.
Poltergiest Force (Su): A psychohost gains Basic Telekinesis as a kineticist of her spiritualist level, using her Charisma instead of her Constitution. If her phantom is harboured in her mind, she counts as having the extended range wild talent for the purpose of her telekinesis. At 6th level the Telekinetic Haul wild talent while her phantom is harboured in her mind.
This ability replaces shared consciousness.
Battle Mind (Ex): At 3rd level and every 5 spiritualist levels thereafter, a psychohost and her phantom gains a bonus combat feat. They must meet the prerequisites for these feats, but she treats her spiritualist level as her base attack bonus (in addition to base attack bonuses gained from other classes and racial Hit Dice) for the purpose of qualifying for these feats. The psychohost also treats her spiritualist level as her fighter level for the purpose of selecting feats with a minimum number of fighter levels as a prerequisite.
This replaces bonded manifestation.
Telekinetic Interference (Su): This ability functions as spiritual interference, but also functions while the phantom is harboured in the psychohost's mind.
This ability alters spiritual interference.
Psychokinetic Mastery (Ex): At 5th level, the psychohost automatically learns blade spiral as a 2nd level spell. At 7th level, the psychohost she learns telekinetic charge and telekinetic maneuver as 3rd level spells. At 10th level, she automatically learns telekinesis as a 4th level spell. At 18th level, she automatically learns telekinetic storm as a 6th level spells. The spell learned through this class feature are not counted against the psychohost's spell known.
This ability replaces detect undead, calm spirit, fused consciousness and dual bond.
