Rod of Arcane Fire[edit]

This golden rod is tipped with a sphere which has an eye carved upon it. When activated the eye opens, burning with a multicolored eldritch flame.

This rod can be wielded as a masterwork club, but its true power lies in the hands of any spellcaster. In their hands the eye opens, allowing the user to fire arcane bolts out to 60 ft as a standard action. The bolt deals 1d6 points of untyped damage as a ranged touch attack plus their highest mental ability modifier, with a 20/x2 critical. If the spellcaster expends some of their spell slots or spells per day as part of using the rod, they may add an additional +1d6 points of damage per spell level of the spell consumed. This is a supernatural ability.

The rod provides some protection against raw magical damage. Wielders gain their energy resistance 10 against untyped damage (but not rare damage types such as divine, hellfire, or poison).

Prerequisites: Craft Rod, magic missile.
Cost to Create: 4,000 gp, 160 EXP, 4 days.
