Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the specialist.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The specialist is proficient in the use of all simple weapons and with light armor but not shields.

Specialist Focus: At 1st level, a specialist gains Skill Focus for a skill of her choice. The specialist can use a Skill Focus skill to earn money as if she were using a Profession skill. If Profession is chosen, she gains double her income for the check.

A specialist gains an additional +2 bonus on any skill she has Skill Focus in. Skill Focus skills are always class skills for her for all her levels.

Additionally, a specialist gets free max ranks in a single chosen skill she has Skill Focus in. Any spent ranks are refunded and may be reassigned to other skills.

Reliable Skill (Ex): At 2nd level, a specialist may "take 10" on any skill she has Skill Focus in, regardless of threats or risk of failure.

Practiced Skill (Ex): At 4th level, a specialist may roll 2 d20s, taking the better result of the two for a skill check she has Skill Focus in.

Constant Skill (Ex): At 6th level, even if her key ability for a skill is damaged or penalized, her skill modifier doesn't suffer. Penalties that apply to the skill apply as normal.

Iterative Skill Action (Ex): At 8th level, a specialist can make a skill check that would normally take a standard action as an attack action instead, as if "full-attacking". Iterative skill checks suffer a –5 penalty just like iterative attacks. Skill checks made in this way may be freely swapped around with attacks when full-attacking.

Reliable Practiced Skill (Ex): At 10th level, instead of rolling 2 d20s, a specialist may "take 10" for one automatically and still roll the other, taking the better result for her check.

Efficient Skill (Ex): At 12th level, a specialist reduces the time it takes to perform her Skill Focus skills by half for actions that take longer than a round. If the check can be made with a standard action, she may now make it with a move action at her choice.

At 16th level, her reduction in time goes to a quarter. At 20th level, her reduction goes to an eighth.

Immediate Check (Ex): At 14th level, a specialist may make a skill that would normally be made with a standard action or less as an immediate action but at a –10 penalty.

Skillful Aid (Ex): At 18th level, whenever a specialist aids another or is aided on one of her Skill Focus skills, she may copy the highest die result from any rolled in the set for use as the main roll instead of whatever was rolled.

The Best (Ex): At 20th level, a specialist is the best. Any skill she has Skill Focus with is automatically considered to have a 20 rolled without rolling. Roll anyways, and any 20s that come up count as gaining a +10 bonus to the check instead.
