Upon casting this spell the wu jen enter a deep meditative stance and project her spirit forth, becoming a disembodied spirit, while in this state she is unable to move and otherwise do any bodily action and take penalties as if she was paralysed (altough she is not helpless), she is still capable of doing purely mental task. She is aware of her body and within 20 feet as if she was under the effect of touchsight power. Her disembodied spirit is free to wander by itself, although it may not move beyond 60 ft. of her body, doing so end the spell.

Her disembodied spirit has the same statistic as her normal self if she was incorporeal. She cannot cast spells, use maneuvers or psionic power, or other act which require concentration in this state. She is utterly invisible, any effect which would make her spirit visible only reveal an outline and a ethereal cord linking her to her body. However she is unable to interact with any creature or the environment in any meaningful way, at best she can exercise the force of a mage hand spell.

When the spell end the wu jen is dazed for 1 round and then staggered for 2 round, the only way she can avoid is walking her disembodied spirit into her body. Doing so end the spell with no ill effects.

The wu jen can cast spiritual projection in higher leveled spell slot, increasing the potency of the spell. The bonuses from augmenting this spell that way are cumulative.

If cast in a 3rd level spell slot, she may move up to 120 ft. away from her body. She can now interact through touch and speech with other creatures. She cannot exercise enough force to do any damage however.

If cast in a 5th level spell slot, she can attempt to walk into an hostile creature and attempt to possess it, work as a ghost's malevolence. If the creature make it save the spell immediately end. You cannot move out of the range of the spiritual projection while possessing the body, if you do the spell end.

If cast in a 7th level spell slot, she gain the ability to move out of an unlimited range away from her body but she need to stay on the same plane. She can travel on the material in soul form as the same rate as if she was using shadow walk, allowing for far distance communication among other things.
