1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.

A living weapon that injects acid directly into the body.

The surge stringer is one of several alien weapons developed by the gokiburi. It is unique in that is is a living weapon, crafted from a cultivated natural plant called a spurge on the gokiburi homeworld. The plant's inner sacs contain very acidic chemicals when mixed, but only after growing it and fusing it with a technological base does it gain an effective delivery system. It is worn over the hand like a spiked gauntlet. You cannot be disarmed of a worn spurge stinger, and it takes up the slot reserved for gloves. You can wield other items and use somatic components while using a spurge stinger, though you cannot attack with the spurge stinger when you are wielding a weapon in that hand. The price is for a single spurge stinger.

The stinger itself is too fine and shallow to deal any notable damage, but successfully pushing the needle into the target releases the chemical bath with great effect. Because the damage is all acid based, you do not add your strength modifier to damage.

Ammo for the device is actually in the form of feeding supplies for the spurge, which while it will not perish if not fed, does not produce the toxic brew required. The bag can hold 50 doses before it must be fed again. A bag of spurge feed fills it enough for another 50 strikes with the weapon. Feeding a spurge takes 1 minute and 10 additional minutes for the food to digest and process.

Due to its organic construction is has low hardness but high hit points. Treat it as a wooden rather than a metal object for the purpose of attacks and spells which effect it.

Spurge stingers are automatically masterwork by their construction. Gokiburi treat the spurge stinger as a martial weapon.
