This +1 longsword has no special powers other than apparently being made of gold. That is, until you kill something with it. If you kill a creature with the sword, it erupts into 10 gp per HD it possessed. The creature must be at least your CR -4 or greater, otherwise it produces only a single copper piece instead.
Rumors say of variants of that sword which spill out other treasures, which may explain how exactly the giant spider you killed dropped a rapier, 30 gp, and a rare painting.
