Talk:Pokémon (3.5e Subtype)

Content[edit]

If you add this subtype to pokemon you did not made, please refrain from making any mechanical changes. The authors of the other pokemen already took in account elemental weaknesses and whatnot (Charizard has the fire subtype). If you want to add true-to-game mechanics I recommend an optional rule linked to the subtype. If you are not adding this subtype to articles you haven't made, feel free to do whatever you want. --Leziad (talk) 23:14, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

Grumpy bump. --Ganteka Future (talk) 07:33, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
Since we might not need this for navigation purposes, this should not be added to articles that are not your own yet. It's one thing to add a holder subtype without text, but this is dangerously close to stealth mechanical changes. - Tark
There will be minor mechanical changes, but almost exclusively in terms of dealing with other Pokémon, as I am largely just adapting SisterAcacia's Pokémon Traits system. --Luigifan18 (talk) 13:20, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
That's probably a bad idea. Ignoring the fact that you are making mechanical changes, poor taste, it works much better as a simple identifier like "goblinoid".
Plus, what's to say I wouldn't go and make some pokemon in the future, only to find the rules that you and/or SisterArcadia to be dumb? I wouldn't be able to use the subtype because I don't want to use said in-built rules. This is in opposition to something like the Bot subtype, because while Bot is homebrew and thus can be entirely given a different subtype, pokemon is a specific 3rd party thing. I can't make an alternative to pokemon when I'm trying to make pokemon. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 00:58, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
Aaaaand it appears the advice won't be taken.
In other news, we're back up to War and Peace levels of length. I barely knew there was a list of monsters on the bottom. I'll give it to you straight: "Too long to give a damn." and I have a high tolerance. Your average joe will take one look at the page and NOPE out of here.
...but you're going to keep working on this and adding more words, and then turn around and say "but you're gone too far already", won't you?

It is against Wiki policy to modify an article mechanically or in any major ways, without the author's or keeper's consent. I will echoes Tarkis, do not add this to articles that are not your own. --Leziad (talk) 03:33, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
...Should I make the Pokémon traits optional? A lot of the Pokémon on the wiki are already designed to work with them, though... --Luigifan18 (talk) 03:48, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
Make a variant rule that link to the subtype, the subtype itself should be mostly blank. --Leziad (talk) 04:01, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
Okay, I'll go do that. --Luigifan18 (talk) 04:30, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

(RESET INDENT) The Nation of Eijilund thanks you. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 04:43, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
