A different take on the Shadowdancer prestige class, the Twilight Thief grant several shadow-based abilities as well as advancing sneak attack.

The strange energy of the plane of shadow allow those who can manipulate it to move extraordinarily fast, sometime instantaneously, to copy the real with mere illusion and even sometime blur the line between what is real and what isn't. It power is hard to use when away from it, or at least coexisting plane.

The Twilight Thief harness the power of the plane of shadow by creating their own personal 'twilight realm', a small demiplane that accompany them, connected to the plane of shadow at all time. They can briefly skip and dip in it, call upon it power and eventually it deepen enough to temporarily enter it. A Twilight Thief is thus gifted with great mobility as well as a large arsenal of shadow-based abilities.

Becoming a Twilight Thief[edit]

Skills: Knowledge (The Planes) 7 Ranks, Hide 7 Ranks, Move Silently 7 Ranks. 
Feats: Dodge, Mobility
Sneak Attack: +2d6. 
Special: Must have the Dark templateToM or the Umbral bloodline or spent at least 6 months living in the plane of shadow.

Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the Twilight Thief.

Dusksight (Ex): A Twilight Thief possess the ability to see up to their normal vision in shadowy illumination and gain darkvision 120 ft.

At 5th level the Twilight Thief gain unlimited darkvision as well, effectively allowing her pierce all non-magical darkness with her sight.

Shadow Slip (Su): As a move action, a Twilight Thief can briefly dip into the shadow to move at incredible speed. She must start her move action in shadowy illumination or darkness, then her movement speed increase by 10 feet per class level, up to twice her land speed. This movement do not provoke attacks of opportunity and the Twilight Thief is considered invisible until she stop moving or take any other action beside movement. The Twilight Thief is capable of uncanny movement and thus may even move vertically without any surface to support her, trading 10 feet of movement for each 5 feet of such vertical movement, after which she may move horizontally at her normal rate in the air. She does not risk falling unless she stop her movement on a surface that does not support her.

This movement is not interrupted by going into dim or bright illumination, but if she finish her movement in such a space her turn automatically end. This is not a teleportation effect nor is it reliant on the plane, this ability do not allow the Twilight Thief to move into a closed room she could not access. The Twilight Thief may open doors and other portals without interrupting her movement while using Shadow Slip.

She may Run using this ability, also multiplying the increased speed gained by shadow slip, but not charge.

Shadow Weapon (Su): A Twilight Thief of 2nd level and above is capable of calling upon a weapon made of shadow and use it as it were steel, as a swift action she may replicate the effect of the call weaponry power, fully augmented as if her character level was her manifester level.

Additionally if she attempted to disarm a creature, instead of rolling normally she may automatically steal the shadow of her foe's weapon. The shadow of the weapon has the same statistic as the actual weapon, including material and enhancement. It only last for 1 round per character level and the Twilight Thief is automatically proficient in it. This does not allow the Twilight Thief to copy an artifact or powerful unique weapon.

Sneak Attack: At 2nd level and each even levels thereafter, a Twilight Thief gain an additional dice of sneak attack.

Twilight Jaunt (Su): A 3rd level Twilight Thief gain the ability to replicate the effect of dimension door (self only) at-will, however her starting points must be in shadowy illumination or darkness. This restriction apply to all teleportation ability replicated below as well.

At 6th level she may replicate teleport (self only) a number of times per day equal to her Charisma modifier. Her previous twilight jaunt ability change to improved dimension door (self only).

At 9th level she may replicate greater teleport (self only) a number of time per day equal to half her Charisma modifier.

Shadow Illusion (Su): At 3rd level, a Twilight Thief can make illusion out of shadow, replicating the effect of minor image at-will, although she may only have on instance of shadow illusion at any time. All creature interact with her illusion and fail their save may be made At Bay from the image for as long as it exist or 1 minute, whichever come first. This later effect is a [fear] [mind-affecting] effect.

At 7th level she may produce a major image instead with otherwise the same perks and restriction.

Hidden Realm (Su): A 4th level Twilight Thief is capable of creating a portal to her twilight realm and temporarily exist there. As a full-round action she may create a portal leading to her twilight realm adjacent to her, which expand in a 10x10 feet space, it is livable but otherwise extremely limited. The portal is invisible once she crosses it. The portal and the realm last for 1 hour per character level per day, uses need not be continuous but used in a 1 hour increment, after which it close and everything inside appear in the closest space.

Mirror Clone (Su): A 5th level Twilight Thief can make several shadow duplicate of herself, they are capable of any physical task and flanking but cannot attack or use any special ability except shadow slip and twilight jaunt. These clones have the same AC and save as the original but with one quarter hit point. These clone possess a mundane copy of the Twilight Thief equipment. They are intelligent and possess the same personality as the Twilight Thief but are not truly conscious, simply a reflection of her.

If a clone is brought to 0 hit point is it destroyed and the Twilight Thief take any damage in excess as non-lethal damage. A destroyed shadow clone vanish into ether and any item it picked up harmlessly fall on the floor.

The Twilight Thief may make a single mirror clone per point of Charisma she possess, they last up to 1 hour per class level and automatically vanish if they are more than 1 mile away from her. She automatically know anything her mirror clone learn, and vise versa, including their exact position. The Twilight Thief may dismiss one or more mirror clone as a free action.

Utterdark Portal (Su): At 8th level a Twilight Thief can banish her foes into the darkest reached of the twilight realms connected to her own. As a full-round action she may tear a portal open which force a single creature within close range to make a Reflex save or be pulled halfway through toward it. As gust of wind and shadow figment draw them in they are considered Immobilized and must make another Reflex save at the start of their next turn or be simply pulled inside.

The portal is only large enough for a large or smaller creature to get in and close as soon as creature enter it, even if it not the original target. Any items or non-creature entities that enter the portal simply harmlessly pass through, although the equipment of any creature that enter follow it.

While inside a creature is tormented by shadowy figment of the Twilight Thief's choice, is conscious and do not need to eat, drink or other metabolic function. This otherwise function as time hop any failed save also incur 1d6 non-lethal damage, when the target return they are Shaken for 2 rounds for each round they stayed inside.. The Twilight Thief may free any foe she banished as a free action, returning them to a square adjacent to her. If a Twilight Thief is trapped in their own portal they may similarly return as a free action automatically after 1 round and are not shaken upon returning.

If a creature take enough non-lethal damage inside the portal to bring them to unconsciousness they instead stay at effectively 0 hit point and risk being trapped forever. Their situation become much more difficult to escape than normal, they are allowed a Will save once per day to escape, if they fail three consecutive time they become indefinitely trapped. At this point only the Twilight Thief's will, a freedom or a wish spell may free the trapped creature. If a creature spent a month or longer in the Twilight Realm they are permanently made insane as the insanityV spell.

Master of Twilight: A 10th level Twilight Thief is capable of traveling between the dimensions as easily as a another walk into an open doorway. She gain the Partial Incorporeality special quality and she may make the first 10 feet of any of her movement invisible if she wishes so. While in shadowy illumination or darkness she gain a miss chance as if she was fully incorporeal instead. Finally she also gain the ability to see through magical darkness.

Her Hidden Realm is now permanent and expandgreatly , acting as a demiplane created by a genesis there that is Divinely Morphic to the twilight Thief will. It is otherwise a self-contained plane with normal elemental, magical and time traits.
