Vexing Word
1st-level enchantment
Casting Time: 1 reaction, which you take when a creature you can see within range succeeds on an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw

With a word, you make a creature falter abruptly, and gift its stolen confidence to someone else. A creature that is immune to the Charmed condition is immune to this spell.
The triggering creature must roll a d4, and subtract the number rolled from the triggering attack roll, ability check or saving throw, potentially turning it into a failure. Multiple castings of this spell cannot affect the same roll; Only the largest die is subtracted from the triggering roll.
You can then choose a different creature you can see within range, which can be yourself. The chosen creature is granted a d4; Once within the next minute, when it makes an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw, the creature may roll the d4 and add the number rolled to the check, potentially turning failure into success. A creature can be empowered by only one use of this spell at a time, and uses the highest granted die.
At Higher Levels. When cast from a spell slot of 3rd or 4th level, the size of the die - Both the die subtracted from the triggering roll, and the size of the die granted to the chosen creature - Increases to a d6.
The die increases to a d8 when cast from a spell slot of 5th or 6th level, to a d10 when cast from a spell slot of 7th or 8th level, and to a d12 when cast from a 9th-level spell slot.
