It's a small floating painted faberge egg. It looks far too fragile and valuable to be here. It's easily confused for a magic item, but its actually a living creature.
Sometimes mistaken as some manner of exotic iuon stone, these floating eggs are actually fey. Specifically it is a "Holiday Spirit", one of several fey which were produced as a result of widespread holiday use. This particular holiday spirit is associated with Easter. It's said that the actual fey is the colors upon the egg and not the egg itself, for slain wonder eggs are found to be completely empty and on death they lose their colors and turn gray. The wonder egg is a mysterious spirit who seems to enjoy observing things unnoticed by others, and will do the best to hide.
Wonder eggs do not speak but sometimes make a rattling sound similar to crushing egg shells. They are effectively animals to the fey, and its unclear exactly how they feed or what they eat. Some suspect they consume emotions in minor undetectable amounts, perhaps the sense of "wonder" which would explain its name. It would also explain its proclivity of following the curious, often found trailing after halflings and other wandering beings.
Wonder eggs have only their spell-like abilities to aid them, they have no real combat potential.
Hide in Plain Sight (Ex): Thanks to their pattern body, wonder eggs can hide in plain sight anywhere.
Pattern Body (Ex): A wonder egg's body constantly shifts and changes its colors, and it can use it as camouflage to hide. It gains a +4 bonus on Hide checks. Alternatively it may make a gaze attack as a standard action out to 30 ft to one creature. The creature must make a DC 13 Will save or become fascinated for 1 round. The saving throw is Charisma based, and a successful saving throw renders them immune for 24 hours.
Wonder eggs may be used as familiars, in which case it has the alignment of its owner. Wonder eggs give a +3 bonus on Hide checks.
