Archaeologist

While most archaeologist are not all dashing adventurers (most would be simple Specialists), some of them are. These unconcentional adventurers have acquired skill and moxie allowing them to survive even the most unlikely of situations. They however do not possess the awesome power of virtuous performance, instead having the ability to draw upon their own experience and insight to thrive.

Class: Minstrel

Level: 1st-20th

Replaces: An Archaeologist do not gain the Musically Gifted, Stylish Path, Gather Crowd or any Virtuous Performances.

Benefit: An Archaeologist gain access to the following class features:

Alternate Stylish Path: A 1st level Archaeologist gain access to alternate Stylish Paths instead of the Minstrel's default:

Adventuring Professor: You gain the Well Read talented discovery and an Dark Knowledge as an ArchivistHoH of your class level.

Starlet Explorer: You gain the Musically Gifted ability of the Minstrel, at 3rd level you also receive Gather Crowd as a normal minstrel.

Tomb Raider: You gain proficiency with one martial or exotic weapon of your choice as well as Weapon Focus with that weapon.

Archaeologist's Insight (Ex): After years of tomb-delving and work on the field, the Archaeologist is capable to call upon an almost supernatural insight to survive. As a swift action she may focus on her experience, granting her a +1 insight bonus on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls. She can use this ability for a number of rounds per day as if it was her Virtuous Performance. Maintaining this ability is a free action, but it ends immediately if the archaeologist is killed, paralyzed, stunned, knocked unconscious, or otherwise prevented from taking a free action to maintain it each round. Archaeologist’s Insight is treated as virtuous performance for the purposes of feats, abilities, effects, and the like that affect bardic performance. The bonus granted by Archaeologist's Insight increases to +2 at 5th level, +3 at 11th level, and +4 at 17th level.

Field Expert (Ex): As an Archaeologist, you add half your class level on any Knowledge check pertaining to ancient civilizations (including customs, area they inhabited and technology), ruins or treasures that should belong in a museum. This even apply to civilizations that are not known, although only to the extend of resemblances to similar civilization and making the lack of knowledge about them stand out.

Clever Explorer (Ex): As the archaeologist's ability.

Uncanny Dodge (Ex): A 2nd level Archaeologist receive the Uncanny Dodge talented discovery as a bonus talented discovery.

Evasion (Ex): A 3rd level Archeologist gain Evasion as a Rogue.

Rogue Talent: At 4th level an Archeologist may select rogue talents as Talented Discovery. At 12th level she may now select Advanced Rogue Talents as well.

Survivor's Insight (Ex): At 4th level the Archaeologist automatically gain her Archaeologist's Insight bonus without using any rounds if she under 20% of her maximum hit points. As long as she maintain her Archaeologist's Insight she also gain a number of Temporary Hit points at the start of each of her turn equal to half her character level x her Archaeologist's Insight Bonus. These temporary hit point last until the start of her next turn.
