During her time in school, the archivist Melenoe found herself running out of study time. So she made up for it while she slept, at the small risk of astral hazards.

You cast this spell shortly before you go to bed. When you sleep, your spirit travels to the astral plane as per astral projection with the following exceptions. You cannot leave the astral plane. You retain copies of your equipment, and any changes (including expenditures of limited use items) are reflected with your real copies. The location you arrive is always deep in the astral and is otherwise featureless and barren, making intentional interactions with other astral beings impossible. Typically this spell is used to allow a creature to work through the night while their body gets rest, crafting, studying, or doing other activities.

You have a 75% chance plus +1% per caster level to be unharassed during the night. However there is a chance you encounter some manner of issue, in which case roll on the chart below.

2 Your astral form took damage. You take 3d6 nonlethal damage.
3 Your astral form had to flee. You wake up fatigued, which lasts for 1 hour.
4 Your astral form had to flee. You wake up exhausted.
5 Your body is tense due to a stressful situation. You do not recover hit points and ability damage naturally.
6 You cannot retain your focus. You do not recover spells and other daily abilities, as if you had not rested.
7 You are attacked and overwhelmed. You awaken with 1 hp remaining.
8 Roll again, ignoring further results of 8.

Focus: A silver totem and chain worth 100 gp.
