Brand of the Dark Sigil

Yes indeed. Those branded by the dark sigil will wander the earth until the end of time.

Those who are branded by the mark caused by this spell are cursed with a dread form of immortality. The brand grants the user a dark insight score or increases it by 1 the first time they are ever targeted by this spell. If the marked creature dies, they revive 24 hours later as if restored by raise dead at the last place they rested at least 8 hours in a new body. The first time they die they revive but count as an undead creature as well as their original type for the purpose of favorited enemy and interacting with spells and effects. They do not gain any traits, nor do they heal from negative energy if they did not previously.

Each time they die, they return appearing more and more withered and undead and accrue 1 permanent madness that remains even if they mindbreak. This is unsustainable, and eventually the creature will be in a state of permanent mindbreak. When this occurs their type switches to undead, they gain undead traits, and go absolutely mad. They become a dangerous insane undead with all their abilities in life but no will other than to shamble and kill, and no way to permanently die.

This does impart immortality by removing one's maximum age. When they would die from old age they perish and respawn. This occurs only once.

The dark sigil can be lifted and the effects of this spell removed only with miracle or wish, which kills the target but allows them to be revived normally without the curse. They can also keep their sigil but lower their permanent mindbreak by 1d4 points with limited wish.
