Dozens of misshapen humanoids come crawling out from under your bed, with blank milky eyes and taut pale skin over a hideous skeletal frame. Simply adorable.

These horrific looking mimicries of humanity are natural residents of the warped plane, yet in spite of appearances they are harmless and even docile. Largely fearful yet curious, these primitive humanoids sometimes make mimicry of the dress, behavior, and mannerisms of any humans it comes across without actually understanding why or attributing any meaning to it beyond appearance. They appreciate gifts and trinkets, and are not beyond stealing items like mischievous monkeys. Monkeys which only exist to those already going mad, and can burrow through time and space.

Dark pygmies understand, but cannot speak, Aklo. Some clever ones eventually pick up Common. Either way they can only make vocalizations and not actually string together words. Rarely, one might manage to write a message with its arcane mark ability. They stand only a foot tall and weigh 6 lbs. They breathe, but do not eat or sleep.


Dark pygmies flee instead of fight. Their feeble bites are not enough to protect them.

Burrow Space (Su): The dark pygmy can use phase door at will, but self only. In addition it can move its door 20 ft every round, "teleporting" from space to space slowly as long as it could conceivably walk there.

Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): At will- arcane mark.

Phase Out (Su): Once per day if the dark pygmy takes enough damage to kill it, it can make a DC 15 Fortitude save. If it succeeds it enters its phase door at -9 and stable, and remains there until it heals.

Warped Native (Su): Because they only exist on the warped plane, they cannot be seen or interacted by those without dark insight. Likewise, they can only see beings with dark insight.


Dark pygmies can be used as familiars with the Improved Familiar feat and at least caster level 5th to anyone with a dark insight score. Unlike most improved familiars they do offer a side benefit. The user gains the benefit of the Dark Knowledge feat, which stacks with the actual feat.
