You detect the electricity that surrounds you, whether natural, supernatural, or magical. The amount of information revealed depends on how long you study a particular area of subject.
1st Round: Presence or absence of electricity in the area.
2nd Round: Number of points of electrical concentration, and the electrical flows that connect them.
3rd Round: Location of each electrical points, as well as their voltage, stability, and the nature of each of these points (natural, supernatural, or magical).
Each round, you can turn to detect electricity in a new area. The spell can penetrate barriers including wood and all conductive metals, but a thin sheet of rock or none-conductive metal still blocks it.
Detect voltage can be made permanent with a permanency spell for 500 XP (minimum caster level 9th).
