Elementalist Warlock

Some warlocks have ties with the Elemental Planes and with genies, deriving their powers from them, either by a connection of blood, a pact or study. Many warlocks genasi follow this path.

Class: Warlock In The Dungeon

Prerequisites: Knowledge (arcana) 4 ranks and Knowledge (the planes) 4 ranks

Level: 1st, 3rd and 8th

Replaces: Alignment Restriction, Damage Reduction, Detect Magic, Fiendish Resilience

Benefit: You may be of any alignment. When you gain the Occult Soul feature chose one of the components of your alignment and your eldritch blast becomes aligned to it. When you gain Supernatural Power you align your eldritch blast to the other components. If you have just one component or not at all, you may align eldritch blast to one extreme on each axis (or one axis in the case of a partially neutral character) when you gain the appropriate feature.

You gain the following abilities:

  • Sense Elements: At level 1st instead of Detect Magic you gain the ability to detect elements at will, as a spell-like ability. It works as the class feature of the same name of the shugenjaComplete Divine.
  • Elemental Fortitude: This feature substitutes the damage reduction feature, as well as all of its improvement. You gain fortification 10% at level 3rd and a +1 bonus on save against effects with an elemental descriptor (as below). It increases by 5% at level 7th, 11th, 15th and 19th. The fortification doesn't work against attacks with the air, earth, fire or water descriptor. The bonus on saves increases by 1 at each level stated above (up to a +5, at level 19th).
  • Genie's Work: This feature works as fiendish resilience and substitutes it, as well as all of its improvement. You must attune to one element (air, earth, fire or water). To do so you must meditate for one minute in presence of the corresponding element, making a Concentration check with DC 15, that you may try again as much as you want. If you succeed you gain attunement to that element until you meditate again to change it or you fall asleep. Depending on your attunement you gain different abilities. You activate them as a free action and they last 2 minutes or a number of minutes equal to its Charisma modifier, whichever is higher. You may split the time in multiple uses.

Air: you replicate the spell air walk as a spell-like ability, lasting the time stated above.

Earth: you gain the earth glide ability, similar to an earth elemental.

Fire: you gain an ability similar to the effect of the blur spell: it has the same restriction of the fortification feature stated above.

Water: you gain a swim speed equal to your land speed. You may breath air and water and may walk on water as if on solid land.

Caster level is your warlock level and the duration of these effects counts them together (if you have used air walk for one minute and then attune to earth, you may use the earth glide ability for no more than one minute, assuming the maximum time was two minutes). You may attune multiple elements at the same time at higher levels: you may attune two elements at level 13th and four at level 18th.

Special: You may tie this alternate class feature just to one of the elements. In this case you may sense only the selected element, the bonus on saves applies only against effect with the descriptor of the same and opposing element (water and fire, air and earth), and you may forgo the attunement feature. Instead at level 13th you gain more uses of the genies's work feature, effectively doubling the duration. At level 18th the duration is three times that of level 7th.
