Freeshooter Bullet Case[edit]

It is said that a marksman for the king once desired the hand of the princess in marriage, and that he would one day gain his chance as the daughter was a fan of the hunting games the king would run. It would be his chance to shine, and he would surely gain her affection. He practiced long, but found himself wracked with bad luck, hand injuries, and other events would ruined his aim. It was then he was approached by a mysterious stranger with a promise: he would use his magic bullet case and with it, 7 magic bullets. They would never miss and always strike true and with intent, but one of the seven would not be under his control. And so he made his deal with the devil, and with six bullets felled the greatest of beasts winning the attention of both king and princess. He sought to defraud the devil at the last moment and never fire the seventh, but through misfortune his squire had taken the last bullet upon his own hunt. The bullet swerved and headed into the heart of the princess, robbing the marksman of his love and bringing doom upon him as it was made to look to be his own act.

Though perhaps just a story, no one can deny the power of this bullet case which has the word "FREESHOOTER" wrought upon it. It has no power until all seven slots are filled with bullets, at which point the bullets are enhanced to never miss and each strikes with a confirmed critical hit, no matter the distance as long as there is line of effect. The bullet slips out of time if their target escapes line of effect, and strikes true once they return.

However one bullet out of the seven is cursed. It will have a mind of its own, a mind of malice, and will often turn on that which the owner values most even if the owner passes the bullet off to another.

The case does not accept more bullets, or new owners, until all previous bullets have been expended. At that point more bullets may be enhanced.

When first enhancing the bullets the DM rolls 1d6+1 in secret (the first bullet is always safe). That number is the cursed bullet in order of their use.

Extensive use of this artifact may attract malicious spirits to bargain for the users soul, especially if used intentionally.
