Jewel of Spirit Allies
This shining jewel can be crushed in one hand into powder. Doing so summons allies to help you in battle.
The jewel of spirit allies is a potent way of turning the odds in your favor, guards at your beck and call. It is favored of leaders who may end up in a situation against hostile forces with no backup. The jewel in its base state is dull gray, but one or more willing creatures can swear service to the bearer of the crystal (a free action). Doing so causes the jewel to glow with faint ghostly images of those who swear service. Any time after the bearer of the crystal may crush the jewel as a standard action to call those creatures who have sworn service up as summoned monsters encased in a pale aura of light anywhere in Close range. They serve the summoner for 15 rounds before vanishing, as normal for a summon monster spell. They are summons and technically copies of the sworn creatures, and so can be summoned even if the original creature is dead or otherwise absent. The summoned creatures are as they were at the time of making contract, and possess no abilities or knowledge past this point. Creatures may only be sworn to a single jewel of spirit allies at one time.
Each jewel can hold a certain HD of creatures sworn to it determined on creation of the jewel. For every 500 gp you can store up to 1 HD of creatures, to a maximum of three times the creator's character level. The owner of the crystal can crush a filled or partially filled crystal with ease, but for everyone else the jewel has normal hardness and durability (hardness 8, 15 hp) and the summons only appear when the owner they originally swore service to activates the jewel. A creature can flush the jewel of stored summons as a 1 round action and then become the new owner by forming new contracts with creatures.
