The Kaioken technique is a powerful spell altering tool. There are three versions which it is capable of.
- Boosting Ki Blasts: The damage a ki blast deals rises by 50%. For every two spell slots higher you cast this in, you gain an additional +50% damage for the duration (to a maximum of +150% as an 8th level spell). The duration of this is 1 round, or until your next attack.
- Expand Ki Blasts: You benefit from Expand Spell. For every additional spell slot higher you cast this in, you stack another Expand Spell to increase the area. The duration of this is 1 round, or until your next attack.
- Improve an attack: You gain your caster level to your next attack. For every spell slot higher you cast this in, you gain your caster level to your next attack again (to a maximum of 5 damage per caster level at 9th). This extra damage bypasses resistances, immunities, and DR except for DR/-, but is not multiplied on a critical hit. The duration of this is 1 round, or until your next attack.
- Improve one's speed: For one round your speed doubles, and you gain the Pounce ability. Your movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity, and you ignore difficult terrain from non-magical sources. For every spell slot higher you cast this in, your speed multiplies further (x3, x4, x5) to a maximum of x7 at 9th. The duration of this is 1 round, or until your next attack.
You take 1d2 points of Constitution damage from the strain of pushing yourself each time. If you cast it from a higher level spell slot the damage die increases by one step (1d3, 1d4, 1d6, etc) to a maximum of 2d6 at 9th. If you cannot take Constitution damage, you cannot benefit from this spell.
