This iron chest was empty when you first saw it, but when you opened it a second time there was something inside!
Always made in groups of two or more, these iron chests are linked to each other and all possess the same interior. Placing an object in one chest will have the object appear in all linked chests, and removing and object removes it from all chests. The chest is built with a lid which slowly closes on its own as a failsafe, as only one chest in the collective can access the inner space at a time. If the inside is being accessed elsewhere, the other chests cannot be opened.
Nonliving and dead objects transport fine, but the chest cannot transport living creatures in it. 99% of the time, the creature is violently pushed through time and space, appearing outside the chest they've entered with 1d6 damage as they are shunted out. However, 1% of the time the creature vanishes never to be seen again. Some suspect these creatures have been shunted out of reality, into the Far Realm, or worse.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, secret chest.
