You stand mocking your enemies on the other side of a bridge. As your enemies charge towards you, you dramatically reveal it as an illusion, and they fall through the bridge into the deep chasm below.
You create a false bridge over a chasm within Long range. ("Chasm", within the context of this spell, means anything worth building a bridge over, like a river, a gap between the roofs of two buildings, a pool of magma, a canyon, et cetera, et cetera.) The chasm must be no more than 100 feet wide per caster level. Though the bridge appears to be made out of a material of your choice, and indeed feels like it is made of that material, it is actually made of shadowstuff. This shadowstuff is real and able to support up to 200 pounds per caster level, until you decide to make it unreal as an immediate action. Once the bridge is unreal, it is no longer able to support weight, and all creatures and objects resting (or running, charging, fighting, etc.) on top of it fall through the bridge, landing on whatever lies beneath unless they have some way to catch themselves in midair. You can make the bridge real again with an immediate action, allowing it to support weight once more.
Creatures that see the bridge can detect its real nature as a shadow-based trap with a Will save to disbelieve if they spend at least 1 round examining the bridge. This includes closely inspecting it, poking at it, tentatively stepping onto it, and so on. If the bridge is currently unreal, of course, poking at it or stepping on it will automatically reveal that it is intangible and not to be trusted; if it is currently real, the bridge is tangible and a Will save is needed to spot the trap. Charging or running characters are not entitled to a Will save to recognize the trap. Characters automatically realize that the bridge is a trap if they fall through it or witness other creatures falling through it. A creature that is familiar with the terrain may make a Survival check in place of a Will save; the Survival DC is equal to the Will save DC + 8.
When the spell's duration ends, the false bridge disappears outright, and if it was currently real and creatures or objects were resting on it, those creatures and objects fall onto whatever lies below.
Dispel magic aimed at any part of the false bridge can instantly end the spell. The area version can terminate the spell if at least 50% of the dispel magic spell's area contains squares with the false bridge in it; otherwise, the bridge is unaffected (dispel magic either ends this spell outright or does not affect it at all).
You may only have one false bridge active at a time; if you cast this spell again to make another false bridge, the first look out below spell instantly expires as if dispelled.
Material Component: A chunk of the material that your false bridge is to be made of.
