Mask of the Forgotten[edit]

These artifact masks were crafted in a bygone age as a method of sealing away things which could not be sealed, and as punishment for beings long lost and forgotten. It is a plain gray metal mask with no facial features and only empty blackened slits for eyes, which magically reshapes and resizes as needed when placed on willingly, or on a helpless foe. To wear the mask is to become cursed, for the wearer forgets all about who they were recalling only the basic requirements to function and their language. They lose all skills, feats, and class levels (though they retain HD, BAB, and saves), they lose their alignment and become effectively true neutral, are constantly passive as if under calm emotions (regardless of immunity), and even their body reshapes to be a generic, shapeless, and gray form of their species or type. In this new form they do not eat, sleep, breathe, or age. In this way, they lose themselves and no one can recognize them. Not even powerful divination can find the knowledge of who they once were as long as they wear the mask.

The mask can only be removed by the one who originally placed the mask on them (unless it was themselves, in which case this is not an option) or by a next of kin or blood relative. It is said somewhere in the depths of Caceri lie a prison block exclusively composed of the forgotten, whose torment consists only of the endless boredom of imprisonment in the endless cages.
