An animated +1 ball & chain, the ball takes on the appearance of a round face of iron, with two white eye spots and a mouth full of razor sharp teeth. When not swung it naturally animates, often bouncing slightly in place or giving off dog-like vocalizations. It attacks on its own once per round as a free action, using its users highest attack modifier or its own (+5), whichever is higher. This is a bite attack, which deals normal weapon damage (including the wielder's strength) with a 18-20/x2 critical. The extra attack does not stack with effects such as Speed or haste. If attacking on its own its strength is 16 (so 2d6+4 damage).
On a critical threat, you deal bite damage in addition to normal damage. This damage is not multiplied if the critical is confirmed.
It is considered an intelligent item as well as a large animated object (Str 16, Dex 10, Con Ø, Int 10, Wis 12, Cha 12). It is typically true neutral and never engages in Ego battles, but a few exceptions exist. It has a number of hp equal to a large animated object or as much as it has as a weapon, whichever is higher. It can be loosed to fight on its own, or the hilt can be embedded in a soft ground such as soil, clay, or sand and have it patrol an area up to 10 ft radius.
