Paleodruid

A druid which reveres ancient and extinct creatures, a primitive caster and archeologist. Often wears primitive looking garments or armor made out of fossils.

Class: Druid

Prerequisites: You may not take levels in the base druid class.

Level: 1st

Replaces: Animal Companion, Spontaneous Casting, Woodland Stride, Resist Nature's Lure, Wild Shape, Venom Immunity, A Thousand Faces.

Benefit: You gain the following benefits:

  • Archaic Companion (Ex): Instead of an animal companion you gain an Archaic Companion, which works the same way as Animal Companion, but must be a dinosaur (such as a troodonDM318) or a prehistoric animal (or a yoshisaurus). It still counts as Animal Companion for any purpose.
  • Spontaneous Casting: Your Spontaneous Casting feature changes, allowing you to cast summon fossil instead of summon nature's ally. It works the same for any purpose.
  • Locate Fossil (Sp): At 2nd level, instead of Woodland Stride, you get Locate Fossil, which works as locate object but only for mundane fossils and it's not blocked by earth, rocks, liquids and unrefined metal. You may use it 3 times per day as a spell-like ability.
  • Primeval Tongue (Ex): At 4th level you gain Primeval Tongue which allows you to act as if under the constant effect of speak with animals but only for the purpose of communicating with dinosaurs and preistoric animals. It substitutes Repel Nature's Lure.
  • Fossil Shape (Su): By level 5th you gain Fossil Shape, which works as Wild Shape (and substitutes it), allowing you to transform in fossil creatures instead of normal animals. The duration is limited to 1 minute per paleodruid level. It still counts as Wild Shape for any purpose, but you don't get the plant and elemental form.
  • Paleoskin (Ex): Whether it's thick skin and fur or hard scales, at 9th level, instead of Venom Immunity, you gain a natural armor bonus equal to your Wisdom modifier (up to +5).
  • Fossil Restoration (Su): At level 13th you gain Fossil Restoration which allows you to use fossils as material components in summon fossil spells. For each 500 gp you spend, increase the HD of the fossil creature summoned by one, up to a maximum of double the creature's original HDs. If you summon multiple creature you may split the HD increase. The fossil components are expended. This substitutes A Thousand Faces.
