Planebinder Amulet[edit]

This baroque hexagonal brass amulet has a green crystal embedded within it. When activated the small pipes and tubes wrapped within its intricate design begin piping with haunting sound.

This amulet draws upon planar energies to perform various tasks. The amulet grants the following abilities:

Analyze Portal: You may use the analyze portalSpC spell at will.

Control Portal: You can attempt to take control of any portal as a standard action, making an character level check opposed by the caster level check of the portal in question. If successful you control the portal and may choose to open or close it (though this only suppresses it and does not dismiss it) as well as make any changes to location of the portal if such an option is available as if you were the original caster. If the original caster is present and aware, they can attempt to take standard actions to re-assert control. You also lose control after 1 hour, or when the portal is dismissed or ended.

Depressurize Portal: If you are within 60 ft of an active portal you control, you may cause it to depressurize and send any effects on the other side of the portal through violently. Consult the table below for what occurs. If a plane has more than one association, choose one on using this ability. All effects emit from the portal itself, and the save DCs are 10 + 1/2 HD + your highest mental ability modifier.

Alignment A line out to 60 ft shoots out, which deals 1d6 divine damage/level (maximum 10d6) to any creature with an alignment directly opposed to the plane, or half this to creatures only one step away from the opposed plane. For example, a portal to Celestia (lawful good) deals full damage against chaotic and evil creatures, or half damage to NG, TN, and LN. It does not harm lawful good creatures. Reflex save for half.
Elemental A line out to 60 ft shoots out, which deals 1d6 damage/level (maximum 10d6) of the appropriate energy type for the elemental plane. Air planes deal either electricty or sonic, cold planes deal either cold or piercing, earth planes deal either acid or bludgeoning, fire planes deal either electricity or fire, and water planes deal with either cold or slashing. If dealing sonic damage, the damage die is reduced to d4s. Reflex save for half.
Far Realm A line out to 60 ft shoots out, which deals 1d4 damage/level (maximum 10d4) and renders the creatures confused for 1 minute. This is a mind-affecting effect, and a successful Will save halves the damage and negates the confusion. The creature is immune to further confusion attempts from this ability for 24 hours, but not the damage.
Prime Material A line of random debris out to 60 ft shoots out, dealing 1d6 simultaneous bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage/level (maximum 10d6). Reflex save for half.
Transitive A line of warped space flies out to 60 ft, teleporting pieces of its victims away to their respective planes. This deals 1d4 damage/level (maximum 10d4) and if this damage would kill them, their body vanishes and is destroyed as it is scattered across the planes. Fortitude save for half.

Dimensional Shield: As a standard action the amulet distorts its surroundings, generating a +1 deflection bonus to AC and 3 temporary hp/level. This lasts until 1 hour passes or you make any sort of [Teleportation] effect upon yourself. Once used there is a 10 minute cooldown before it can be used again.

Planar Restoration: If the wearer of the amulet is an elemental or outsider on their home plane, they benefit from a Ring of Regeneration which needs no time to attune. A native outsider to the material plane can benefit from this ability on the material plane.

The amulet can be used as a focus for the plane shift and gate spells, and cut the XP costs for using gate in half.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, plane shift.
Cost to Create: 10000 gp, 800 EXP, 20 days.
