Preacher

A cleric who focuses its faith and knowledge of its doctrine to bestow boons onto its allies or convert the unfaithful.

Class: Cleric

Level: 1st

Replaces: The preacher doesn't gain domains nor the Turn/Rebuke Undead feature of a normal cleric.

Benefit: At 1st level, a preacher gains the following class features:

Spellcasting: Instead of using Wisdom to determine the maximum level of spell it can cast, a preacher uses its Charisma. Its spells' DC is also based on its Charisma.

Doctrinal Knowledge: A preacher may use Knowledge (religion) to substitute any Charisma-based ability or skill checks used to influence others. It adds its Charisma modifier instead of Intelligence to these checks.

Sermon: A preacher may recount tales of gods and saints, recite religious tenets or give speeches to encourage allies and dishearthen sinners. Similar to a bard, the preacher may produce various effects with its sermons. It must be able to speak and the targets must be able to hear the preacher for the effect to take place. Unless stated differently, starting a sermon requires a standard action, and it may be maintained for up to 3 rounds + the preacher's Charisma modifier. The action used to maintain the sermon is listed in each section. The preacher has daily uses for its sermons equal to its class level + its Charisma modifier.

Inspiration of Faith (Su): A preacher with 3 or more ranks in Knowledge (religion) may reassure allies with divine powers with words of faith. As a full-round action the preacher recites a small discourse towards a specific target who can hear it. If the character has divine-derived powers, such as a paladin, it counts as one level higher for the purpose of this divine powers (except spellcasting). A divine spellcaster increases its spells' DC by one. The effect may take place only on targets that haven't an oppoisite alignemnt to the preacher nor those who worship an opposing deity. The benefit lasts one round per Charisma modifier, or double that if the target shares the preacher's faith or its alignment. The bonuses increase by 1 at level 6th and 12th. The preacher can affect itself with this sermon.

Chastise the Heathen (Su): A preacher with 3 or more ranks in Knowledge (religion) may reproach those that don't share its faith or haven't its same alignment. As a full-round action it may speak words of discredit to a target who can hear it. The target must pass a Will save (DC is 10 + 1/2 class level + Charisma modifier) or suffer one Daunt level for one round per Charisma modifier, or double that if the target worships an opposing deity or has the opposite alignment. It imposes one additional Daunt level at 5th level and 10th level.

Tenets of Faith (Su): A preacher with 3 or more ranks in Knowledge (religion) may speak short religious tenets aloud to inspire allies (including itself) that share its faith or its alignment and instill fear to those that worship opponent deities or have opposite alignemnt. The first gain a +1 morale bonus to attacks, damage rolls, saves, ability and skill checks or caster level checks while the others a -1 morale penalty to same type of roll (the choice is made when starting the effect or changed as a move action in later rounds). Maintaining this sermon requires a swift action each round (unless it uses a move action to change the effect, in which case the move action is enough to maintain the effect). At level 7th these values become +2/-2, then +3/-3 at level 13th.

Mass Chastise the Heathen (Su): A preacher with 14 or more ranks in Knowledge (religion) may replicate the effects of Chastise the Heathen, at the same conditions, but affecting one target per Charisma modifier. The imposed Daunt levels increase by one at level 14th and 18th.

Mass Inspiration of Faith (Su): A preacher with 14 or more ranks in Knowledge (religion) may replicate the effects of Inspiration of Faith, at the same conditions, on a number of targets who can hear it equal to its Charisma modifier. The bonuses start at +1 and increase by 1 at level 15th and 19th.

Sermon counts as bardic music for the purpose of requirements, feats or any other feature that requires it.

Convert Incredulous/Reproach Infidels (Su): At level 1, a preacher may use a standard action to either convert those who don't share its beliefs or to hold infidels at bay. It affects one target per Charisma modifier who can hear the preacher talk. When converting the incredulous, the preacher must select targets who don't share its beliefs. They count as faithfuls for one minute per class level after that and are a step friendlier towards the preacher for the duration. A target may try to resist the effect by passing a Will save with DC equal to 10 + 1/2 class level + Charisma modifier. Those that worship an opposing deity or have an opposing alignment gain a +5 to the save and the duration is halved. When reproaching the infidels you choose the targets among those who don't share your faith. They must pass a Will save, with the same DC as before, or become at At Bay towards you and those of your allies who share your beliefs. The preacher must keep talking as a standard action to maintain the reproach infidels effect. Creatures who oppose your beliefs are also shaken for the duration of the effect. These are a mind-affecting effects but non-mindless[1] creatures are still affected. The preacher has 3 + its Charisma modifier Convert Incredulous/Reproach Infidels attempts per day.

Convert/Reproach counts as Turn/Rebuke Undead for the purpose of requirements, feats or any other feature that requires it.
