Roué the Deathwheel[edit]

Said to be the undying memories of a god of torture and death, its vestige now seeks to bring suffering and death from beyond reality itself.

Level: 3rd

Binding DC: 20

Special Requirement: No

Legend[edit]

In an age long forgotten, there were ancient gods unfamiliar with the world known today. Beings such as Hades, Ereshkigal, and the Grim Reaper are new faces which have supplemented beings before them in similar positions. Such was the nature of Roué, an ancient and evil god of death whose skill with torture, suffering, and execution was legend. It was not merely mortals who feared his wrath; the gods were also victims for Roué's twisted desires. They tolerated this, using Roué as a form of punishment, but when Roué stole away and tortured to death the daughter of the goddess of love, he drew the ire of all around him. Something had to be done, and so the gods descended into Roué's dungeons in rage.

Through great struggle, the gods surrounded Roué and set upon him, forcing him into one of his favored torture devices, the breaking wheel. So it was that Roué suffered and died in the same manner as he had put so many others to. However, such was the nature of his crimes and such was the wrath of the gods and the many innocent spirits he had put to death that even in death he found no peace. The torment continued long beyond death, until every last trace of his existence had been wiped from the world.

Of course, one place remembers... a place which no longer exists.

Manifestation[edit]

There is the clattering of wood and bone, as if a skeleton were tumbling down the stairs. From the distance a lone wagon wheel is seen, which rolls up and crashes at your feet. Around it, the warped bony frame of a humanoid skeleton lies, a single burning eye visible in one of its sockets and its deathly visage seemly warped into an unusual grin. It laughs and says nothing to the pact-maker, but when a mental bond is reached, the skeleton shatters into dust, leaving the wheel for the binder to pick up and use.

Sign[edit]

A large wooden wheel, covered in spikes. Many of Roué's abilities require the wheel, though it only need be on your person (such as strapped to one's back) and not actively wielded. If you drop or lose the wheel, you can re-summon it on your person as a free action.

Influence[edit]

Your alignment briefly shifts one step towards chaos and evil. You do not lose any class features for this shift, but actions you take while influenced may end up altering your own alignment in the long run.

Granted Abilities[edit]

Bonewheel Shield[edit]

You may use the wheel as a tower shield, though you can only gain partial cover from it instead of total cover. You are proficient in this shield, it has no maximum Dex penalty, and you may shield bash with it, dealing 1d10 points of bludgeoning and piercing damage. Lastly, the shield is always under the effect of magic vestment and greater magic weapon with a caster level equal to your binder level.

Death Spirit[edit]

You gain some traits not unlike the undead. You become immune to negative energy, energy drain, and death effects, and mindless undead do not immediately see you as a threat. If you are already undead, you gain a +4 bonus on turning resistance, and gain maximum healing from negative energy effects.

Rolling Motion[edit]

Rolling around is very fast. You can increase your land speed by +30 feet, though when you benefit from this your gain poor maneuverability, as if you had a fly score, for determining how well you can turn. You must have the wheel on you in order to use wheel charge.

Wheel Charge[edit]

You gain the benefits of the Wheel Charge feat, using your binder level as your BAB for determining the number of attacks you get (minimum two attacks, as if you had BAB +6). You must have the wheel on you in order to use wheel charge.
