These are two spiraling gemstones, red and blue, interlinked together to form one whole ioun stone. When equipped it falsifies your type, subtype, and race to the one assigned to the ioun stone in question. You may treat yourself as the race inherent to the stone instead of your original species for the purpose of non-instantaneous and non-permanent spells, class features, and other effects. You do not gain any traits of the new type, nor do you actually change into said creature. For example, you could count as a illithid and use illithid-specific magic items, and cast a spell which only works on illithids.
You cannot use the stone to qualify for feats or prestige classes.
You can assign a stone to a new race, gender, type, and subtype by soaking it in the fresh blood of said creature for 24 hours.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, alter self.
Cost to Create: 3000 gp, 240 EXP, 6 days.
