Shh! The ouija board is spelling something out... E. X. P. L. O. S. I. V. E. R. U. N. E. Sooooooh no!!!!

This spell requires a focus of a Ouija board, which the spirits of the dead may communicate with you. You attempt to contact a currently deceased creature you have at least had a detailed description of. The base chance for reaching the correct spirit is 70% + 1% per caster level, to a maximum of 90%; this roll is made secretly. A failed result is a malicious random spirit, though it usually becomes abundantly clear it is not the creature you intended to contact. Attempting to contact with insufficient information always contacts malicious spirits. Correct or not, spirits can only communicate by moving the planchette to spell out one-word answers, or short phrases when answers would be inaccurate. They are limited to the information they knew about up until the time they died, and are not compelled to speak truthfully. However you may still make Sense Motive checks against any bluffing on part of the spirit.

Spirits who had at least 8 HD or more at death can perform minor acts while being channeled as per mage hand or prestidigitation, though the effects never reach beyond a 20 ft radius centered on the Ouija board. Random malicious spirits have a 20% chance of being above 8 HD.

If cast in a spell slot higher, you may choose to remove the need for the focus and become host to the spirit, concentrating as a free action. You speak in their voice and they have effectively dominate monster over you for the time, though they cannot use your class features, supernatural abilities, or spell-like abilities. However the caster may make Will save DC 23 to resist the spirit's influence, and two successful saves in a row dismisses the spirit and ends the spell. The effect also ends if they move beyond 20 ft from the point they cast the spell.

If cast in a spell slot two higher, you can summon a phantasmal apparition instead of becoming the possessed host. This host appears within the 20 ft radius centered on the point this spell was cast. It is effectively a major image controlled by the spirit as a free action, and may speak, create illusions, or other effects within the spell's abilities within the area. This form also lacks a need for a focus.

Like raise dead if the subject’s soul is not willing to return the spell does not work; therefore, a subject that wants to return receives no saving throw. When you cast this spell to summon a chaotic, evil, good, or lawful creature, it is a spell of that type.

Focus: An Ouija board.
