Strategies and Tactics[edit]

Least Shadows are spiritual entities with no wit, incorporeal parallels to skeletons ad zombies. As such, they employ the simplest of the tactics: fly up to your target and strike it. Having said that, it's important to note that their partial incorporeality and hover speed makes them a bit trickier than corporeal undead as they can move through objects and ignore difficult terrain. They mostly follow the commands of their creator or of those that control them.

Ecology[edit]

Environment: Shadows live in any location with strong necromantic magic, as they are often purposefully created from necromancers. They don't arise spontaneously usually, but if they do, they are found in graveyards and battlefields.

Typical Physical Characteristics: A least shadow is not different from a normal shadow, only more faded and less intelligent in its behaviour. They moan and move slowly searching for the living.

Alignment: All least shadows are neutral evil, not really interested in wrongdoing, but not against attacking mindlessly.

Lore[edit]

As the soul leaves the body, it imprints an hint of memory in it. A necromancer with the right equipment and knowledge may extract it from the corpse and gain a useful minion. The tecnique to do so has been originally invented by shadowlords.

Typical Treasure[edit]

Shadows have no treasure at all. If one manages to find the body it may loot it.

For Player Characters[edit]

Characters with the Shadow Extraction feat may create shadows from corpses with animate dead.

Advanced Creatures[edit]

A Least Shadow that reaches 3 HDs transforms into a shadow.
