Shadowcraft[edit]

A shadowcraft item looked darker than normal, as if the lighting upon it was one step too dim for the environment.

The shadowcraft template can be added to any suit of armor, shield, or weapon crafted within the Plane of Shadow or any other place of unusual and unnatural darkness. The created items are infused with shadowstuff, causing them to be ever-slightly malleable and unreal. A shadowcraft armor or weapon has all the base statistics of the normal item except as noted here.

Requirements[edit]

The creator of a shadowcraft item must either be in the Plane of Shadow or have the entire construction occur in a magical darkness 4th level or higher for the entire run, as well as at least 10 ranks in the appropriate Craft or 10 ranks in Knowledge The Planes.

Shadowcraft Armor and Shields[edit]

The shadowcraft template can be added to any suit of armor or shield. Items appear poorly lit compared to ambient lighting and are always slightly to cold to the touch, especially in metal armor. When on the Plane of Shadow, the material becomes translucent, though it may be difficult to see given the poor lighting of the Plane. This does not effect the effectiveness of the armor or shield at all.

Cost: 400 gp

Affinities: Cold Resistance (normal, improved, and greater); Glamered; Shadow (normal, improved, and greater); VariableMIC. Shadowcraft armor and shields work well with the cold darkness, and are easy to shift in form and purpose.

Special: Shadowcraft armor and shields draw power from the darkness, becoming more real when not exposed to the light. They gain +1 point of AC when in shadowy illumination or darker, and lose 1 point if in brighter than average light (to a minimum of 0 AC bonus).

Shadowcraft Weapons[edit]

Shadowcraft weapons seem fuzzy around the edges, as if you can't focus on them. Like armor and other items, they are too dim and too cold to be normal. When used in the dark, the weapons are lighter and easier to handle. If the light gets to bright their weight is thrown off instead.

Cost: 800 gp

Affinities: Dislocator; Frost; Great Dislocator; Icy Burst; ShadowstrikingToM. Shadowcraft weapons are imbued with a dark chill, and bend space and time around them.

Special: A shadowcraft weapon has portions of itself only half real. In darkness, the weapon is easier to wield. While in shadowy illumination or darker, if you are taking a penalty to attack for any reason, such as from two-weapon fighting, a curse, or power attacking, reduce the penalty by 1 point (minimum 0). If you are in brighter than average light, you instead take a -1 penalty to attack rolls while it persists.
