Spider Cocoon
Eldritch Essence Warlock Dark; 7th
|
Your eldritch blast deals normal damage, and creatures must make a Reflex save or become entangled and immobilized by thick silk strands, as if under the effects of a tanglefoot bag (including what happens on a failed save). They take your eldritch blast damage each round the tanglefoot effect is upon them. However, the real trouble begins with multiple strikes. A creature who was previously immobilized by this effect and who fails another Reflex save is encased in a solid cocoon of eldritch energy, immobile and helpless but also benefiting from total cover. They (or their allies) can continue to make Strength checks to try and burst free as per tanglefoot bags. Striking the cocoon with your eldritch blast gives you three options.
- Digestion: The creature must make a Fortitude save or be digested, dying. The invoker absorbs their remaining hp as temporary hit points which last for 10 minutes. Temp hp overlaps, it does not stack.
- Stasis: The creature must make a Will save or be permanently encased in the cocoon in temporal stasis, along with the cocoon itself. Effects which remove temporal stasis remove this effect.
- Transformation: The creature must make a Fortitude save or be digested, dying. Its body is re-constituted into a monstrous spider of equal or less HD. The spider bursts out of the cocoon and fights for the invoker for 1 minute, using the warlock's mental ability scores (if better), before scuttling off and becoming another mindless beast.
In all three cases, a successful save negates.
