This demonic looking mask is made of dark stone. As you fight, red hot molten cracks appear on the surface until the entire thing erupts into burning flame!
It is said that an ancient lord of power once crafted many golems of stone and iron, and powered them by binding high ranking demons to their form. One of his last creations was forged and smelted in a kiln the size of a tower, and given its impure life with a spirit which soon proved too powerful for the lord to manage. Though the lord and the original creation is lost, many parts of this ultimate golem remain. This mask and all replicas of it was said to be the face plate to the terrible beast, and holds a fiendish essence within it.
When worn, the stone mask provides a +1 armor bonus on AC which stacks with other sources of armor, and provides a +5 on Intimidation checks. It's real power comes out when faced with a stressful situation (that is, any time you cannot take 10). During these situations, the mask seals itself to the user's face and it cannot be removed. As the situation goes on the mask gets warmer and warmer, and after 3 rounds the mask bursts into molten cracks that injure it's user, but grant them power. They duplicate the effect of a 1st level barbarian's rage (+4 Str, +4 Con, -2 AC, +2 Will) which stacks with the effects of actual rage. They also deal an additional +1d6 points of fire damage on all their attacks, but take 1d6 fire damage each round themselves, ignoring resistance (though immunity halves the damage). If 6 rounds pass and the stressful situation has not abated, they benefit from a 10th level barbarian's greater rage (+6 Str, +6 Con, -2 AC, +3 Will) and deal +2d6 fire damage, while taking 2d6 fire damage each round. At this point the entire mask is lit in flames. Rage lasts until the stressful situation has passed, applying fatigue as normal for rage. Whenever the user falls under a rage effect (either their own or due to the mask) their voice becomes deep and demonic.
While wearing the mask, users radiate a faint evil aura, in addition to whatever aura they possess normally. They are affected by spells and effects which target chaotic evil outsiders or demons.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, heat metal, lesser planar ally or lesser planar binding.
