Write abilities, not numbers.

This class is extremely boring. Have a number here! Have a bullshit bonus there! Whee! The abilities have such interesting names but effects that are both boring and bad for the game.

So, at level 15, this class lets you fly slightly better than a 5th level wizard; hit people with all your shots despite massive penalties for distance, cover, and power attack; and get really good at AoOs with a Scythe.

Except for that last bit, which sounds both fun and like you probably made a mistake, this class is pretty boring.

Where's the stopping bullets as an immediate action? The ability to retrieve infinite amounts of weaponry from your trenchcoat? The power to fly into people and make them explode? Bending spoons? Making cats meow twice? I'm disappointed in you.

Abilities that are inferior to a wizard at that level, and no combat abilities to compensate. Fluff does not explain well what this does and why people would want to play it. This really should have an entry level of 5 instead of 10. Further, if you want to follow a Matrix flavor, add dodge and evasion features.

chat too talk about the perstiage class[edit]

hey buddy ty for takeing the time too talk too me and im sorry for the changes that i made too the class i just felt that the hd should be a 12 and not a hd8 is all

Looks like you figured this out already. I left a note on your user talk page (or your temporary one right now, since it seems to be using your MAC-Address as a name). Anyway, since we're here and I don't know when Cesspit will be in next... why do you feel that way? Right now it seems pretty well packed with full BAB, all good saves, and a decent skill list, so d12 seems overkill. But if you have a compelling reason why not...-- Eiji-kun (talk) 01:44, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
Just wanted to point out that Cesspit never actually registered. And left this in draft status. And there's no other articles associated with the user or the IP they added this from. And it's not a particularly good fit for VH, as described by Foxwarrior. If Mr. IPv6 wants to adopt this and adjust to taste I'm not particularly opposed, just need to follow the standard protocol and whatnot. - Tarkisflux Talk 01:55, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
I figured as much (but thanks for confirming it for me). I just want to make sure he's used to the whole "ask first, then edit". I suppose you could say my last question posed to him is to have him think about his changes, see where he's coming from, and offer my aid as much as I can.
Course after reading this class I'd me more apt to nerf than boost IMHO, but these Tome things tend to be above me anyways. I'll do the best I can to help though. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 01:58, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

no i understand like i said before i just felt that since it is a fighter class then the hd should be a 12 and not a 8 and also if its going too be badass witch it is then why not go all out

i was also woundering if maybe u would like too make a new perstiage class with me

i have made a whole new race of dragons their called star dragons and their born from stars

It is a powerful class indeed, going by the "Tome" philosophy which basically tries to make everyone as strong as wizards. It's not really one I jive with, but that aside I can still get it. But... does it really need a d12? It wouldn't be balanced if we just put everything on it. Tome, for as high powered as it is, still keeps to certain expectations and power levels. Maybe if the class doesn't have much for class features, maxing out all its base stats (BAB, saves, and HD) would be fine, but looking at the class features I can't say it's lacking power, and I don't think it's a very good idea to just make it as strong as possible.
For one, no one would allow it.
Presumably all of us would like to think our creations are being used by others somewhere, but for that they have to be accepted by a DM, and even the highest power DM would have a hard time allowing a class that was a big pile of numbers. Seeing that d8 is "average", and generally the go-to HD for magical melee types while d10 and d12 are for unusually durable people, and partly to make up for their lack of magic, I don't think I agree. I feel others may echo my sentiment.
Don't feel discouraged though, discussing it helps for sure. To be honest, I don't particularly think I'm fond of the class as is though my problem with it, besides being too strong for my tastes, is the same as Foxwarrior's rating. It's kind of boring, being a pile of numbers with little to back it. The best classes I find have a strong flavor behind them. Regardless if it ends up too weak or really powerful, people will want to play the class because they find the idea behind it to be awesome. It's probably why the monk still exists as a class. Its a terrible class... but punching a dragon in the face with your fist is pretty awesome of an idea.
Anyway, tl;dr, I don't think it's a fighter class so much as a gish class, like a cleric, ranger, or eldritch knight.
As for making classes, yes, I can help. Well, I can try to help (I'm actually in the middle of aiding someone else with a class concept), and at least get you started. Tell me more about your idea. I'll help you brainstorm. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 02:25, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Adoption[edit]

It was deleted, and I liked the concept. So I restored it, updated the template on the page and gave it a huge makeover. --Leziad (talk) 11:49, 10 June 2019 (MDT)

This really feels like it wants to be a 10-level PrC entered at 6th (Fighter 5 as then entry), to grab some lower-level utility. The class feels a little devoid of explicit flavor, also - maybe lean into the whole "if you hit something hard enough you make magic" thing many of the abilities have going for it, and explicitly tie the class to generating and manipulating Force effects?
I do like that some of the powers are still very explicitly about being a really good face-basher - keeps the class focused on being a Fighter.
