Umbral Warlock

Also known as shadow warlock or dark warlock, these arcanists pledged their soul to shadows or study it and have a strong connection with the Plane of Shadows. In Eberron the first umbral warlocks were umbragen warlocks, that gave their body and spirit to the Umbra.

Class: Warlock In The Dungeon

Prerequisites: Must know the darkness invocation

Level: 3rd and 8th

Replaces: Damage Reduction, Fiendish Resilience, Different Skills

Benefit: Add Hide and Move Silently to your class skills. You also gain the following abilities:

  • Dark Eye: This feature substitutes the damage reduction feature, as well as all of its improvement. You gain darkvision in 30 feet (9 meters) at level 3rd. If you already have it increase the range by 10 feet (3 meters). By level 7th you may also see in magical darkness as if in normal darkness. By level 11th double the range of your darkvision and your darkness invocation now may replicate the spell deeper darkness. By level 15th you gain a limited form of blindsense: as a move action you may pinpoint invisible or unseen creatures in 20 feet (6 meters). You may do this only if you and the creatures are in an area of darkness or shadowy. By level 19th you gain blindsight in 30 feet (9 meters) under the same conditions as before but you don't need to use any action to sense creatures.
  • Smoky Cloak: This feature works as fiendish resilience and substitutes it, as well as all of its improvement. As a free action you may cover yourself in a wispy robe of shadows, by level 8th. This effect lasts for 2 minutes or a number of minutes equal to its Charisma modifier, whichever is higher. While the effect is active you gain concealment 20%. You may split the time in multiple uses. By level 13th the concealment is 30% and by level 18th it's 40%. Enemies with darkvision are still subjected to its effects but not enemies that see in magical darkness. This effect may be dispelled by light effects, working as a darkness spell or a deeper darkness spell by level 13th. Caster level is your warlock level.
