Wheelshoes[edit]

Clearly some gnomish prank to make shoes with wheels so the victim would slip and slide about, it somehow became a popular pastime. These "rolling skates" or wheelshoes increase the user's land speed by +10 feet, with no increase in speed going uphill and a +20 increase in speed going downhill. However to move in them successfully the user must make a DC 10 Balance check, and the DC for any movement related skill checks (such as Climb, Jump, or Swim) increase by +10. It is a cheap way of gaining extra speed.

Difficult terrain is especially harsh on wheelshoes, which need a relatively flat surface. Speeds are quartered instead of halved in difficult terrain (minimum 5 feet), and traveling through any sticky terrain or being hit by a tanglefoot bag gums up the wheels. Gummed up wheelshoes are treated as if always in difficult terrain until cleaned (a full round action, provided you have a means such as water or a rag).

Wheelshoes take up the feet slot. Enhanced magical wheelshoes may exist; these do not gum up in sticky areas but still treat difficult terrain as above.

Market Price: 800 gp
