Yskayar, the Unmade Monk[edit]

A monk who was tricked into obliterating themselves from history, they have returned out of sheer rage and disgust and now seek to unmake everyone else. Yskayar grants the ability to fight as a monk, dispel effects, counterspell, nerf the abilities the others, and punish others on its death.

Level: 2nd

Binding DC: 20

Special Requirement: No

Legend[edit]

There once was a brave and benevolent monk who joined a party of heroes to save the world. He was not the strongest; the rogue could deal more damage than him. He was not the best at surviving; the paladin was far superior at that. He didn't have utility; the wizard could best him there. But he was brave, and in spite of his failings, he did his best and supposed his friends by following the teachings of the monk of the healing hand, a school of thought based on kindness and healing. From fighting orcs, to battling demons, eventually their party rose in power until they faced a great challenge they could not face. Having finally achieved mastery of his chosen school, he bravely sacrificed himself to destroy the ultimate evil.

For his sacrifice, he was rewarded with the gift of being erased not merely from life, but history and memory alike. He never existed.

All of his work. All of the suffering. At any time he could have picked up a sword, worn armor, tried to learn magic. At any time, he could have bettered himself, but he did not because he wished to follow the way he was taught. He trusted in his school that the power he was gaining would result in good, and while it did smite an evil, it bred forgetfulness. In forgetfulness, history would repeat itself, and what selfless hero would appear now? He would have been better to have cast powerful spells and deal great damaging blows, but he wasted it all away on this.

And so his rage grew, and grew, and grew. Having forgotten his own name, all he could remember was the one who convinced him, the one who taught him this path, the one who made this terrible technique. He would erase existence as existence had erased him, and in the process erase his hated foe.

But first, he'd need to exist again...

Manifestation[edit]

The binder looks up from his rune to find there is nothing before him. Even so, he has the sudden urge to stand and take a fighting pose, performing a few martial arts motions to the invisible judging master before him. With the invisible force satisfied, a silent contract is made.

Sign[edit]

Your body takes on a toned fit appearance. However, your eyes somehow appear empty and lifeless.

Influence[edit]

You seek to discourage monks from pursuing their goals, and have an abiding hate for the masters which teach them. In addition, you find yourself unable to speak or write your name down anywhere. You don't even know your own name.

In truth, Yskayar is not the name of the vestige. He no longer remembers, or has, a name. Yskayar is the name of his teacher and the source of his rage. He will not stop until Yskayar is dead, or is revived so he may kill him.

Granted Abilities[edit]

Counterspell[edit]

Against any spell or spell-like effect which has the binder within the area of effect or as the target, the binder can make a dispel check as per greater dispel magic to negate it as an immediate action. This counts as a use of dispelling strike.

Death Throes[edit]

If you perish, you can choose to explode in a blast of energy which deals 10 points of damage per HD to all creatures in 20 ft, as well as heal all allies the same amount in 20 ft. Opponents get a Fortitude save for half. You can choose to activate this on purpose as a 1 round action, though doing so provokes an attack of opportunity and drops you down to −1 hp and dying, and expels the vestige. You cannot re-bind with this vestige for 24 hours.

Dispelling Strike[edit]

As a standard action, you may make a touch attack and have the touch effects of greater dispel magic against a single target or effect. You can also do this as an attack action as part of an unarmed strike, but it is a normal melee attack and not a touch attack. If you successfully hit, you cannot use it again for 1d4 rounds.

Nerf Effect[edit]

You gain damp powerCP at will, but may apply it to any effect, including physical damage. Once you have used this ability, you cannot use it again for 5 rounds.

Unarmed Strike[edit]

You gain the unarmed strike of a monk of your level, as well as the magic, lawful, and adamantine enhancements as appropriate.
