And on the eight day, the sky went black and an endless host of wasps and locusts descended upon the kingdom. The crops were destroyed, darkness consumed all, and they were allowed to torment all those without faith.
You call a terrible curse upon an area of land, so that they may be consumed by an endless wave of biting and stinging flying insects. So thick is this great cloud of insects it blots out the sun, casting everything in the area into total (though perfectly non-magical) darkness. Any creatures without total cover are covered in bugs. Even if they can see through the darkness, they have partial concealment (20% miss chance) and total concealment beyond 30 feet.
Each minute they must make a Fortitude save vs nausea for 1 round (or each round if in combat or in a tense situation) and take 1 point of damage a minute regardless of the save. Plants and plant creatures do not add their damage reduction or hardness as the creatures bore right through them. As a result, all crops and vegetation in the area, as well as much of the livestock, is usually destroyed.
Any swarm subtype creatures which are in this area are immune to the effects of this spell, and deal twice as much damage with their swarm attack, and a +6 bonus on the DC of their distraction ability (if applicable).
The caster is unharmed by the swarm and can see normally as if the swarm were not even there. He may also set conditions for other creatures to be immune to this spell. You can set the conditions to be a creature's alignment, the deity they worship, possessing a particular mark or item on them, a creature type, subtype, or kind, or any physical characteristics. They cannot be set according to class, Hit Dice, or level.
If the caster is in the area of effect, he can use a standard action to direct a swarm of insects against a single target as a ranged touch attack, dealing 1d6 magic bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage per two caster levels to a target within 60 feet. They may do this at will.
Nothing short of a miracle or wish will automatically dispel this effect, though if the caster dies before the duration is up, the spell effect becomes vulnerable to a normal dispel attempt via break enchantment or a remove curse of a higher caster level.
