Bonded Object

Replaces your familiar with a bonded object. It's not as bad as the pathfinder bonded object.

Class: Any class which grants a familiar, or if you gain the Obtain Familiar featCA.

Prerequisites: Must have a familiar.

Level: Varies

Replaces: Familiar.

Benefit: Instead of a familiar you gain a bonded object. The bonded object can be anything the spellcaster can hold or equip, but it is typically either a weapon, a rod, ring, or amulet. The spellcaster can use somatic components through the weapon even if her hand is full, and they gain one additional spell slot or spell per day at each level they can cast. Spells cast using the additional spell slot/spell per day do not provoke attacks of opportunity, as if casting from a spell trigger item.

The spellcaster can further augment and enhance the object as if they had the appropriate item creation feat. If the object is lost or destroyed it can be remade over 24 hours, with the same cost as losing a familiar. This removes any enhancements placed on the original object (if it still exists) and applies them to the new bonded object.
